Distribution of groceries to the needy
widows and single mothers

Good Shepherd Convent organized a ration distribution programme on 29 November 2025 to support 50 needy widows, elderly women, and single mothers from the surrounding slum areas of in and around Nungambakam, Chennai-600006. The initiative aimed at providing essential groceries and dry ration kits to ensure food security and dignity for vulnerable families. The gathering was marked by gratitude, warmth, and the spirit of solidarity.
Women acknowledge the support received- They expressed heartfelt gratitude through smiles, applause, and prayerful gestures.
The ration kits, including Rice, Oil, Dhal, Black-gram, Sugar, turmeric, Mustard seeds, Chilly powder, Coriander powder, and Tea leaves, were neatly arranged in rows for distribution.
Widows, elderly women, and single mothers seated peacefully as they awaited the programme to begin.
Sr. Aruna George, superior of the convent, spoke to the beneficiaries with words of encouragement, blessings, and support, while the women listened attentively.
Mrs. Neelavathi aged-80 years receiving the groceries from Sr.Rosily with bright smile and gratitude.
With smile on the face and joy in heart beneficiaries carry the groceries to their homes.

Good Shepherd Convent organized a ration distribution programme on 24th January 2026 to support 35 needy widows, elderly women and single mothers from the surrounding slum areas of in and around Nungambakam, Chennai-600006. The initiative aimed at providing essential groceries and dry ration kits to ensure food security and dignity for vulnerable families. The gathering was marked by gratitude, warmth, and the spirit of solidarity.
The ration kits including Rice, Oil, Dhal, Green-gram, Black-gram, Turmeric, Chilly powder, Cumin seeds and Wheat flour were neatly arranged and placed in rows for the distribution.
The women prayed for the sponsors’ generosity and were grateful to them from the bottom of their hearts.
The distribution was conducted peacefully, and the sisters spoke briefly with the women who came to receive.
As they return back to their homes, women had a happy chat among themselves and supported each other to carry the groceries.
